Ahmad Family moved to Canada in 1989, he born and raised here in London Ontario.This portrait project shows how Ahmad outlines that some benefits accompanied his immigration.In the process of adapting to the different environment, he was able to embrace diversity to suit in the social life of the region he lived.Learning of different culture enable him to accept and respect the culture of others.The new environment in the foreign country caused cultural shock because there were changes in lifestyle different from what his family was used to in Lebanon.
Mrs. Dalia immigtared from Egypt to Canada seven years ago. She translated her own personal experience when merging from culture to another to help others by volunteering at the Cross Culture Learner Centre . Some challenges raised during her resettlement process resemble those newcomers and refugees face when the transitions across cultures occur. Her role at the Cross Culture to help the Arab refugees in their settlement processes. London Cross Cultural Learner Centre (LCCLC) is a community organization that exists to provide integration services and support to newcomers and to promote intercultural awareness and understanding. There are so many services the Cross Culture Centre offers to help the Arab refugees once they arrive Canada. Some of these services are; English assessment, helping with the housing, orientation, referral, interpretation, counselling, and advocacy. This project is not only entertaining but also inspiring and educational. The goal is to help the audience to understand the real barriers and struggles the refugees face after leaving their countries and moving to Canada looking for a safer and brighter future for them and their children, and the great role the community centers, such as LCCLC, play to help in achieving that.
