The Osler Society and the Second World War

The Osler Society had strong membership from its inception up until the Second World War. The Osler Society decided to open membership to include the “top tend scholastic members of the final four years”, trying to encourage attendance and increase membership. With many medical students leaving to help in wartime hospitals both overseas and in Canada, there was no other option but to suspend all club activities until further notice. The last wartime meeting of the Osler Society was held on October 6, 1942.
