Dark Night, Nearly Dawn

Item

Title
Dark Night, Nearly Dawn
Description
Started before and finished during the current COVID-19 crisis, Dark Night, Nearly Dawn was directly inspired by and, influenced by the pandemic. The songs are sequenced to tell the story of one dealing with the experience. From the confusing desperation and fear at the beginning through to the acceptance and hesitant optimism we feel about changes to society because of it and, possibilities ahead.
Creator
Westminster Park
Abstract
Westminster Park is a husband and wife led group of musicians and artists from London Ontario. Principal songwriters Colleen & Steve Murphy have released 5 critically acclaimed albums on their independent label Snap Crackle Pops Records. Full time jobs to pay the mortgage, family obligations and the carbon footprint required for touring have kept the duo close to home but, locally they have a steady following, been nominated for several music awards and album of the year lists. High profile shows for the group include opening for Canadian independent music icons The Dears (twice), Danny Michel and Carmanah, performing at the Home County, Mantis and Eco Folk Festivals and a co-headlining show at Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern. The group were featured on CBC radio and TV, have twice been included in the Polaris Prize “Longer” list, and charted on university stations across Canada.
