Fantastic, actually. Our family has stayed busy during the pandemic. My job at Victoria Hospital has increased hours and shifts - now it is usually 4 days on, then 1 day off. My husband's business has managed to accept customers after initial consultation of self-isolation and work has progressed, although a little slower for this time of year. Our son is completing a sequel to his self-published novel from March 2019. These past 2 months have given us time to reflect, and resolve our own life aims. We have accepted the fact the coronavirus is here to stay and we all have to find ways to live with new restrictions. We are extremely satisfied with both Premier Ford and Prime Minister Trudeau - their actions have been steady and show 'true grit'.
This portrait project examines the difference in coffee culture between Bogota, Colombia and London, Canada. Monica Sierra, a recent immigrant from Bogota, shares her experiences between the two lifestyles. Coffee and cafes play an important role in daily Colombian life and according to her, this cultural element is missing in London. Monica compares the warm, welcoming and outdoor cafes in Bogota to the Canadian café equivalent, Tim Hortons. This video aims to analyze how such a simple food staple can have such a different value in different cultural contexts.

Stella Acero immigrated to Canada from Colombia in 2013. The video focuses on her adaptation to life in Canada. She discusses the various obstacles she has had to overcome in order to adapt to her new life and highlights how, as an older immigrant, it takes much longer and requires a lot more effort to learn a new language. She also talks about the reasons for her move, her ties to Colombia, and the differences between life in Canada and life in Colombia.
In this video, Emilio Borja discusses his journey with his cultural identity. Borja discusses topics such as his life before Canada, his reasons for coming to Canada, what he misses about Colombia, and what he likes about life in Canada. All these topics build up to Borja’s discussion of cultural identity. Borja tells us what he feels his personal cultural identity is and explains why he feels this way. Borja then explains his definition of cultural identity, and how he believes cultural identity is fluid and able to change over time. He also explains why he feels this fluidity can be both good and bad.
